The UK has removed import tariffs on more than 100 items including garlic, gherkins, and plant-based milk, the BBC reported. The tax changes aim to reduce input costs for food businesses across the country. [1]

Morgan Austin, operations manager at the burger chain Burgerism, told the BBC that removing tariffs on gherkins is fantastic news for the company. However, Austin noted that hospitality businesses need more substantial support, such as a reduction in Value Added Tax. [1]

Austin said recent policy changes, including increases to employer National Insurance Contributions and the minimum wage, have cost Burgerism about £150,000 a year. She stated that this financial burden is equivalent to the cost of opening a new site for the six-location chain. [1]

A restaurant is a business that prepares and serves food and beverages to customers, offering service models ranging from fast-food locations to high-priced luxury establishments. [2]
