Halloween shoppers across the United States face higher prices for seasonal treats, as cost of living pressures drive up the price of candy and chocolate. The BBC and BBC Business both reported that consumers are actively searching for sales and ways to reduce their expenses during the holiday season. [1][2]

BBC Business reported that Demetrio Beltres, a 33-year-old financial adviser from Manhattan, said he is spending $20 to $30 this year to ensure trick-or-treaters receive items, compared with his typical budget of $15 to $20. [1]

Halloween roots trace back over 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. As FTMQ Business reported earlier, broader cost of living pressures have recently sparked public demonstrations internationally over rising living expenses. [5][6]
