Elderly social media creators are earning significant incomes through online brand deals, the BBC reported. Ninety-six-year-old Lillian Droniak, known online as Grandma Droniak, has accumulated 15 million followers on social media. She uses her earnings to pay for her personal care expenses. [1]

According to the BBC, Droniak earns enough from her social media business to cover monthly care home fees of $12,000, which equals £9,000. The Connecticut resident gained widespread attention in June after her retirement home threatened eviction over parties she hosted. The care home confirmed the dispute and reached a settlement allowing her to remain, provided alcohol was not supplied. [1]

TikTok is a video platform that allows users to upload short content ranging from three seconds to 60 minutes long. The app operates internationally, although it remains blocked in mainland China and Hong Kong. [3]

Other older personalities are also gaining popularity on social media platforms. The BBC noted that Nonna Gracie, Viv Truran, and Barbara Costello have similarly established large online followings in their later years. [1]
