American video game developer Jonathan Blow is set to release his new game, The Order of the Sinking Star, on Thursday, the BBC reported. Blow and a small team have worked on the project for ten years. The BBC noted that Blow regards the upcoming title as the largest puzzle game ever created. [1][2]

According to the BBC, the game contains approximately 1,500 individual puzzles for players to solve. Blow estimates that finishing the entire title could take roughly 500 hours of gameplay. He acknowledged that many players may never finish or even reach the halfway point of the game. [1][2]

Blow previously developed the genre-defining puzzle game Braid in 2008 and released The Witness in 2016. He initially studied computer science and English at the University of California, Berkeley. However, he left the university without graduating to establish his own game development business. [3]

Addressing the commercial logic behind the lengthy project, Blow told the BBC that some developers decide what to create based on what makes business sense or what is practical. The release comes ten years after his previous project was published. [1][2]
