The parliament of Armenia has ratified a framework agreement with the United States on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, JAMnews reported on October 29. The transit project envisages a road through Armenian territory that will link Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave. [1]

According to JAMnews, only members of parliament from Armenia's ruling party voted to support the agreement. Two pro-Russian opposition factions voted against the measure. The opposition argued that the document serves the strategic interests of the United States and Azerbaijan rather than those of Armenia. [1]

Opposing lawmakers stated that the agreement grants the United States a direct presence in a strategically crucial area along the Iranian border, JAMnews reported. The route also secures a connection between Nakhchivan and the rest of Azerbaijan, which represents a long-standing objective for both Azerbaijan and Turkiye. [1]
